SCIENCE CITIES AT JALLANDHAR, AHMEDABAD
& LUCKNOW UNDER CONSTRUCTIONS

Science cities with
the assistance of Central Government are being set up at Jallandhar,
Ahmedabad and Lucknow. Besides this, science museum/centres are
being developed at Dimapur, Imphal, Itanagar, Shillong, Gangtok,
Amritsar, Kurukshetra and Haldighati. This was stated by the Minister
for Tourism and Culture, Shri Jagmohan in reply to a question
by Dr. N. Venkataswamy in Lok Sabha today.
During the current
financial year, out of a total sum of Rs. 1300.00 lakhs earmarked
for setting up of the Science Cities and Science museums/centres,
so far, the amounts have been released are – Pushpa Gujral Science
City, Jallandhar – Rs. 300.00 lakhs, Gujarat Science city, Ahmedabad
– Rs. 200.00 lakhs, Kalpana Chawala Planetarium, Kurukshetra –
Rs. 200.00 lakhs and Panorama at Haldighati – Rs. 100.00 lakhs,
Shri Jagmohan added.
