The President Dr.
A. P. J. Abdul Kalam will hand over Social Security Number Cards
to two Provident Fund members on the occasion of Golden Jubilee
Celebrations of Employees Provident Fund Organisation. The main
function will be held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 25th
February, 2003. Union Labour Minister, Dr. Sahib Singh will
deliver the address and present the memento to the President.
On this occasion, Union Minister for Communication & Information
Technology, Shri Arun Shourie, will also deliver the address.
Minister of State for Labour & Employment and Parliament
Affairs, Shri Vijay Goel will deliver the welcome address.
In this connection,
a National Workshop on "Challenges and Opportunities in
Unique Identification" will also be organised on the same
day in the afternoon. Senior officials of the Government, financial
institutions, multi-lateral organisations, employer organisations
and trade unions will attend this workshop. The purpose of the
workshop is to explore how a system of unique identification
can significantly enhance the overall social security administration
in India and also provide a national platform for integrating
various transactions by the citizens within and outside the
Government sphere of working.
