Third Day of “VANAJ”- National Tribal Festival- 2015

 

The third  day of  first National Tribal Festival “VANAJ”-2015  will see the screening of documentary Films  titled  “Participation of women in Gram Sabha” and  “Gujjar” tomorrow ( on 15.02.2015)  from 3pm to 5.30 pm at the  Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) auditorium, Rajendra Prasad Road, New Delhi. In addition, at the  the IGNCA  Auditorium a seminar discussion will also  be organized from 3.30  p.m  to  5.00  p.m wherein  eminent  panelists  will  deliberate on the topic   ‘Tribal folklore and oral tradition’.

The week long festival coincides with the with the spring time tribal festivals of  Phagu,Phagua and Phagun Parab, ‘VANAJ’ celebrates tribal life and creates an opportunity for  the people of Delhi to appreciate the rich and diverse tribal culture.The festival show cases India’s unique Tribal culture, art, painting, music, dance, tribal medicine, tribal food, and a special attraction- tribal cuisine!  The festival is being simultaneously held at three venues i.e Central Park-Cannaught Place, Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts and Baba Kharak Singh Marg, New Delhi.

Entries to all the venues are free. Visitors to the festival venues in Cannaught Place i.e Central Park and Baba Kharak Singh Marg are requested to park their vehicles at NDMC authorized parking slots only.

At the Indira Gandhi National Center for Arts (IGNCA) a replica of rural tribal market as well as plateform for the cultural presentation is set up where visitors have an access to both the rural crafts, herbs and medicines. All this has been done to  to show case the rich diversity of Tribal culture, art, painting, music, dance, tribal medicine, tribal food, and a special attraction- tribal cuisine.
