Total number of Swadhar Grehs currently operational in the country is 551.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development is implementing the Swadhar Greh Scheme which targets the women victims of difficult circumstances who are in need of institutional support for rehabilitation so that they could lead their life with dignity. The Scheme envisages providing shelter, food, clothing and health as well as economic and social security for the women victims of difficult circumstances. The scheme focuses on establishing one Swadhar Greh in each district. The total number of Swadhar Grehs currently operational in the country is 551.

As per Swadhar Greh Guidelines, State Governments/UTs are required to assess the number of new projects required in their State/UTs. Therefore, it is incumbent upon the State/UTs to setup the Swadhar Grehs in their State/UTs.
