Metro Advisory Board
Union Urban Development Minister Sh. Kamal Nath has stated in a reply to a question in Lok Sabha today that the Central Government has constituted an Advisory Board for Metro Railways for the purpose of assisting and advising the Central Government under sub-section (1) of Section 4 of the Metro Railways (Construction of Works) Act, 1978. The functions of Advisory Board for Metro Railways are as per Sub-Section (1) of Section 4 of the Metro Railways (Construction of Works) Act, 1978.

No specific task of standardisation of various technical aspects, monitoring of metro rail projects undertaken in the country has been entrusted to the Advisory Board.

The Minister further clarified that there is no change in the role of Ministry of Railways even after constitution of this Advisory Board. Ministry of Railways shall continue to be responsible for approving the technical standards like schedule of dimensions, track structure etc.
