Setting up of Textile Parks by Textile Industry

The Scheme for Textile Parks (SITP) has been introduced by Government of India to encourage textile industry. The Scheme aims to create new parks of international standards as potential growth centres. This Scheme would also facilitate textile units to meet international environmental and social standards. Under this scheme Ministry of Textiles is providing subsidy of 40% of the Project cost subject to a ceiling of Rs.40 Crore. The scheme for Integrated Textile Parks has been allocated Rs. 1900 crore in the 12th Five Year Plan, out of which Rs. 717 crore is available for sanctioning new parks in the 12th Five Year Plan.

This information was given by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Textiles Smt. Panabaaka Lakshmi in the Rajya Sabha today.
