Trains converted as Superfast
Rajya Sabha

Trains whose average speed on the entire run in both UP & DN direction is minimum 55 kmph on the Broad Gauge and minimum 45 kmph on the Metre Gauge are designated as superfast trains.

The following trains were made superfast during the year 2005-06 without withdrawing any stoppage:

As a result of levy of Superfast surcharge, the increase in fare is Rs. 10/- in Second Class, Rs. 20/- in Sleeper Class, Rs. 30/- in AC Chair Car, First Class, AC 3-tier & AC 2-tier and Rs. 50/- in AC Fist Class. The increase in fare is irrespective of the distance of the journey. The percentage increase in fare per km on average lead is between 0.01 per cent to 0.03 per cent for different classes.
