The schemes being implemented for promotion & development of handicrafts in the country including traditional handicrafts include: Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hastshilp Vikas Yojana (AHVY); Design and Technology Upgradation (DTU); Marketing Support and Services

 

The schemes being implemented for promotion & development of handicrafts in the country including traditional handicrafts include:

Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hastshilp Vikas Yojana (AHVY); Design and Technology Upgradation (DTU);

Marketing Support and Services (MSS); Human Resource Development (HRD);

Research and Development (R&D); and Handicrafts Artisans Comprehensive Welfare Scheme.

 

The funds allocated and utilized for the above schemes during 2011-12 are as under:-

The number of artisans benefitted through various scheme, State-wise, during 2011-12 is as per Annexure attached

 

Under Marketing Support & Services Scheme, craft bazars are organized in various parts of the country to provide

direct marketing platform to the handicrafts artisans and a sizable number of womens artisans participates in these craft bazars.

 

As of now, there is no proposal for preference for any specific raw material based products.  However the existing policy or programmes

being implemented in the handicrafts sector cover all raw material based product including products made of wood, cane & bamboo and textiles

 handicrafts products made of natural fiber.
