The term of office of four members
of the Karnataka Legislative Council from Graduates’ and Teachers’ Constituencies
are to expire on 30th June, 2008 due to the retirement of the sitting
members as detailed below :-

There is also one casual vacancy occurred in the Karnataka Legislative Council
from Dakshina Kannada Local Authorities’ Constituency, due to the
death of sitting member Shri Blasius
M. D’souza on 26th January, 2008, whose term
of office would have expired on 5th January, 2010.
3. In view of the above, the Election Commission
has decided to hold biennial elections from the said two Graduates’ & two
Teachers’ Constituencies and a bye-election from Dakshina
Kannada Local Authorities’ Constituency to the Karnataka Legislative Council in
accordance with the following programme: -
