Haryana Requests Centre to Consider Cargo and
Civilian Airports in the State
|
Haryana Chief Minister Shri Bhupinder Singh Hooda met Union Minister of Civil Aviation Shri Ajit Singh in New Delhi today. Mr. Hooda requested the centre to take forward the proposal for building a Greenfield Cargo Airport for international operations at Meham in district Rohtak of Haryana sent by the State through Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (HSIIDC). It came up during the discussion that an area of about 2770 acres has already been identified for the project which would be purchased from the private parties. The State informed that the displacement of population will be assessed and would be taken care of as per the R&R Policy of Haryana Government.
The meeting was informed that the proposal has been examined in the Ministry of Civil Aviation in consultation with Airports Authority of India and Directorate General of Civil Aviation for grant of site clearance and has been recommended by both the organizations.
Shri Hooda also underlined the need to have civilian airports in Karnal and Hisar which he said will cater to needs of a large number of people in adjoining areas. Shri Hooda offered to provide land for these airports.
Shri Ajit Singh assured Shri Hooda that the centre will consider positively the request of the State. He asked Airports Authority of India to deploy a team to conduct survey of the land in collaboration with State officials regarding the above projects.
