Curtain Raiser
November 14, 2012
Ministry of Water Resources has erected a pavilion in Hall
No.7E in the 32nd Edition of India International Trade Fair being
organized by ITPO in Pragati maidan
from today till 27th November, 2012.
The pavilion is carrying different exhibitory materials viz. physical models of
various projects/activities, translites, banners,
posters etc. of MoWR’s programmes & policies. The
theme of the pavilion for the year is:
“WATER FOR FOOD SECURITY”
“खाद्य
सुरक्षा हेतु
जल”
Various organizations under Ministry of Water
Resources viz. Central Water Commission (CWC), Central Ground Water Board
(CGWB), National Water Development Agency (NWDA), Central soil and Materials
Research Station (CSMRS), National Institute of Hydrology (NIH), Central Water
& Power Research Station (CWPRS), and Public Sector undertakings viz. Water
and Power Consultancy Services (I) Ltd. (WAPCOS) and National Projects
Construction Corporation Limited (NPCC) are exhibiting their models and other
exhibitory materials to showcase their activities and achievements.
The central attraction of the pavilion is a large
size (18’X12’) working model of Ken-Betwa Link
Project, first Inter-Linking of Rivers Project for which tripartite MoU was signed on 25.08.2005 by the then Chief Ministers of
M.P. and U.P. and Union Minister for Water Resources in presence of Prime Minister of India.
In view of increasing scarcity of water resources on
one hand and increasing population on the other, the conservation and judicious
use of water for food security has assumed great importance. Water plays
significant role in increase in food grain production. Accordingly, the message
matching with the theme of the pavilion is being exhibited through interactive
models and other means to spread awareness and
education among visitors. The various
schemes of MoWR and their achievements are also being
displayed in the CWC stall. The models and exhibitory materials are being
explained to the visitors by resource persons of relevant fields..
Children
represent the next generation and constitute one of the most important
clientele groups in focus for awareness campaign of the Ministry. Accordingly a
student corner has been provided in the pavilion where a pantomime show, which
is a traditional art form and the quiz show on various aspects of water are
also being organized throughout the duration of the fair to attract and educate
children especially the students about issues relating to water resources
management.
