| Establishment of Cancer Institutes |
Government
of India has recognized 27 Regional Cancer Centres
(RCCs) under the erstwhile National Cancer Control Programme,
a list of which is annexed.
Government of India launched a comprehensive
National Programme for Prevention and Control of
Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases & Stroke (NPCDCS) in 2010 in 100
districts across 21 States. Under the programme, Regional Cancer Centres
(RCCs) and Government Medical College Hospitals across the country are eligible
for receiving financial assistance uptoRs. 6.00 crore (Rs. 4.80 crore
from Central Government and Rs. 1.20 crore from State
Government) for providing comprehensive cancer care services.
