Schemes for Development of SC Students

                                     

This Ministry is releasing Central assistance to the States/UTs for implementing a Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Post-matric Scholarship for Scheduled Caste (SC) students   to provide financial assistance to eligible SC students studying at post matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education.

 

In addition, a new Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Pre-matric Scholarship for eligible SC Students studying in classes IX-X has been launched w.e.f. 01.07.2012.  The objective of the scheme is to support the parents of eligible SC children for education of their wards studying in classes IX & X so that the incidence of drop-out is minimized and they have a better chance of progressing to the Post matric stage of education.  Under the Scheme funds are released to States/UTs on receipt of their proposals for implementation of the scheme in the entire State covering all districts. The scheme is not confined to backward districts only.

 

The Budget allocation for pre-matric Scholarship Scheme for the current year 2012-13 is Rs.824.00 crore.  The State-wise details of Central assistance released during the last three years under the Scheme of Post Matric Scholarship for SC students are:
