The Minister of State (Independent
Charge) for Statistics and Programme Implementation Shri Srikant Kumar Jena has
said that All India Average Monthly Per Capita Expenditure (Rs.) with uniform
reference period of 30 days, which can be taken as a measure of level of
living, based on three consecutive large scale Household Consumer Expenditure
Surveys of National Sample Survey Office (NSSO), for lowest and top-most decile classes of Household Consumer Expenditure and also
for overall both for Rural and Urban Sectors is given in the Annex. The data in
the Annex clearly indicate that the ratios of monthly per capita expenditure as
per the provisional results of NSS 68th round between bottom and top
decile classes of expenditure both for rural and
urban sectors remain more or less similar as corresponding ratios for earlier
NSS rounds. This shows uniformity in consumption pattern between the classes
over different years.
In
a written reply in the Lok Sabha today Shri Jena said,
Government has launched a number of schemes and programmes aimed at
generation of employment and/ or income to improve the condition of people.
Prominent among such schemes are Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment
Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), Swarn Jayanti
Gram Swarojgar Yojna,
Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission, Swarn Jayanti Shahari Rojgar Yojna, etc.
