The Union Cabinet today gave its approval to the following approach
and key components of National E-Governance
Plan (NeGP) proposals :
Assigning role / responsibility to
various Government entities (DIT, NIC, DAR&PG, Line Ministries/ Departments
& State Governments )
Formal assigning of tasks of the
identified Mission Mode Projects (MMPs) and support components under NeGP to
various line ministries/departments.
Formal launch of National
e-Governance Plan (NeGP) with stated vision.
Programme management structure to
be created for the NeGP including constitution of a body under the
Chairpersonship of the Prime Minister.
Implementation of the NeGP and its various MMPs/ components.
The Cabinet decision will give the
following benefits / results :
Clear definition of roles &
responsibilities for implementation of e-Governance projects.
Clear allocation of responsibility
for individual projects to individual Ministry / State Departments.
Adoption of the vision would
enable NeGP to significantly improve delivery of services to citizens &
businesses.
Management of this complex programme
in a systematic and professional manner.
