Recovery of large scale arms, ammunition and explosives

In a series of successful operations conducted last night ( 31 Oct 06) by Rashtriya Rifles and Assam Rifles in Jammu & Kashmir and North East respectively, a number of militant hideouts were busted and arms and ammunitions recovered. A Rashtriya Rifles Battalion located a cache of arms and ammunitions at Arangi (Thana Mandi) in J&K on 31 Oct 06. In the joint operations conducted with Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police and Special Task Force, a hideout was busted and the following recoveries were made. (a) 01 x AK 47 Rifles. (b) 04x Pistols (c) 01 x Revolver. (d) 03 x Radio Sets. (e) 10 Kg of Explosive. Another Rashtriya Rifles Battalion also recovered a cache of arms and ammunitions at Handwagan (Southwest of Banihal) which included 01x Universal Machine Gun, 03 x Under Barrel Grenade Launchers and a large quantity of ammunition and explosives. In the North East also, operations proved successful when an Assam Rifles Battalion at Tangpichang, Churachandpur District recovered one UMG, a pistol and 10 Kgs of explosives. VKJ/RKJ
