The Union Home Minister, Shri Shivraj Patil
has strongly condemned today’s blast in Guwahati. He
expressed condolences to the kins of those killed and
wished speedy recovery to those injured in the
incident. The Home Minister said that such incidents
would not succeed in weakening the resolve of the
Government of India to deal strongly with divisive
forces in Assam and other north eastern states.
Following the blast, the Home Ministry is in
constant touch with the State Government and
monitoring the situation regularly. The Union Home
Minister has spoken to the Assam Chief Minister, Shri
Tarun Gogoi. The State Government has been advised to
remain vigilant and ensure that peace is maintained.
The State Government has been assured of necessary
help.
