Shri Kapil Sibal to attend World Conference on Higher Education

Shri Kapil Sibal, Union Minister for Human Resource Development will be leaving tonight to participate in the 2009 World Conference on Higher Education being organized by UNESCO headquarters in Paris from 5th to 8th July, 2009. He will be the key note speaker on the Plenary Session on “Beyond Talk: What Action for Higher Education and Research”. The major issues coming up for the discussion in the conference “The New Dynamics of Higher Education and Research for Societal Change and Development” include: a) Higher Education role in addressing major global challenges b) The new dynamics of Higher Education and Research c) Equity access and quality d) Learning research and innovation. On the sidelines of the Conference Shri Kapil Sibal is likely to interact with other participating delegates. Representatives from more than 150 countries consisting of Education Ministers, Prime Minister, Director General UNESCO and Heads of the State are taking part in this conference. MV/Hb
