Nomination of Chitradurga Fort as world Heritage Site

Lok Sabha Minister of State for Planning and Parliamentary Affairs Shri V. Narayanasamy has said that the Govt. has not received any proposal for nominating Chitradurga Fort in Karnataka for inscription in the World Heritage List of UNESCO. Moreover, as per the Operational Guidelines laid down by the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO, nomination of any property to the World Heritage List can only be considered if it has already been included in the Tentative List of the country concerned. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today he said, the Chitradurga Fort does not figure in the Tentative List of India approved by the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO as at present. AD/DB
