The Defence Minister Shri AK Antony presented the IDSA Foundation Day Awards at a function here today. He gave away the coveted Dr. K Subrahmanyam Award to Dr. Harsh V Pant of King’s College, London. Air Commodore Arjun Subramaniam bagged the Special Mention Award for studies in Defence and Security Issues. The Institute for Defence Studies and Analysis (IDSA) also held an Inter College Debate Competition to mark its 44th Foundation Day on November 11, 2009. Shri Antony presented the award for the Best Speaker in the competition to Shri Gaurav Chhibber of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi. Siddharth Jhawar of IIT, Delhi and Nayonika Dutta of Sri Ram College of Commerce were jointly adjudged the First Runners Up. Sarah Farooqi of St Stephen’s bagged the Best Interjector (college category) while Lokesh Ahlawat of Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College was given the Award for the Best Interjector (public category).
Professor Pratap Bhanu Mehta, President, Centre for Policy Research delivered the Foundation Day Lecture on the occasion.
